We bought a Homepath Home!
Well, it has been over 7 months of fighting for it, and we actually did it! We bought a Fannie Mae Homepath home - a bank owned property out in the country. It has been an emotional, draining, stressful, long, and frustrating 7 months. We are no where near done either, the process is just beginning because we have numerous issues to fix and our current house to sell... but we got to this point (which I was doubtful that we would). It's all in the quest for a "simpler" life - it is just going to get much more complicated before it can get simple though... but we knew this before taking this plunge. The foreclosures on the market are unbelievable. So many people are losing their homes. You really can take nothing for granted. The benefit of having a job, a source of steady income, and all that comes with it, is a real blessing.

Good luck to you! We bought a foreclosed house we couldn't pass up before we even considered putting our first home up for sale. It's been a lot of stress and work but coming close to the end soon. Just hoping it sells fast!
ReplyDeleteHi Molly! Thank you for your comment, and so good to have company :-) Lots of good luck on the sale of your home. Yes, this was a "couldn't pass up deal" also - I am still holding my breath making sure it is really "ours". (We had to buy it twice - long story.) It is overwhelming the amount of work we need to do - but... it will definitely be worth it. We haven't listed our house yet, we still need to do work on that too.. before we can attempt to show it. My toddler and my newly-walking 1 year old make it hard to delve into much without wanting to "help"...
DeleteWill pray for you all, for a smooth transition and few obstacles. Yes, nothing really comes in life, without struggle and bumps in the road but here's hoping that it turns out just as it should : ) You're ready for this. Much luck.
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn, Thanks a lot for your encouragement! This is the kind of journey that is challenging in a scary/fun way, so I am pretty excited about it, just hope we are not in over our heads - we have been known to take pretty big risks in real estate and life in general and sometimes they have not always been the best of decisions - but hey, we are definitely never bored. (just broke, hahah) Praying for you and your mom...
